CaldrionSubmit an opportunity

Single family office

Working with a single family office.

Caldrion is a single family office and principal investor. This page explains what that means if you are selling a business or property, arranging a loan, building a company or looking to invest alongside us.

01The basics

One family’s capital, invested directly.

As our Legal Disclosures put it, Caldrion LLC “exists solely to manage the capital, financial affairs and investments of one family and its related trusts, entities and foundations.” It invests only that capital, from its own balance sheet.

Many investors you meet manage capital for others. A fund, for example, raises capital from limited partners and must return it to them on a fixed timetable. Caldrion has no outside investors, so three things work differently.

  • Whose money is it?

Ours. Every dollar we deploy is our own. We have no outside investors or clients, and we answer to no fundraising cycle.

  • Who decides?

Decisions are made by a small internal investment committee that meets weekly. We need no outside approvals and no fundraising to close.

  • How long do we hold?

Our capital is permanent, free from fixed fund lives, so no fund timetable forces a sale. In private equity, we can hold a great business for decades and manage hold periods and exits deliberately.

02What it means for you

Different counterparties, the same principles.

Whoever you are, you deal directly with the people who decide, and our word is our bond: we do not re-trade deals at the eleventh hour or use leverage to force terms that were never agreed.

  • Sellers

When we sign a term sheet or letter of intent, the capital is committed. What we buy, we can own for decades, free of any fund’s exit timetable.

  • Borrowers

We lend our own capital and hold every loan on our balance sheet, so we never need to sell down a position to close. We can structure around a borrower’s cash flow rather than a rigid box.

  • Founders

Through Caldrion Ventures, we invest our own capital in founder-led companies and support them as long-term owners. In private equity, we partner with management teams through control buyouts or significant minority stakes.

  • Brokers and intermediaries

We treat brokers, intermediaries and advisors as extensions of our team. Our real estate, private credit, private equity and art and collectibles pages set out how we protect the brokers and advisors who introduce transactions. Share a link to non-confidential materials; we sign NDAs promptly when there is mutual interest.

  • Co-investment partners

Family offices and institutions can invest directly alongside Caldrion. Co-investment never means investing into a Caldrion fund or vehicle, and we do not manage a partner’s capital.

05What we are not

Clear about what we don’t do.

Being a single family office also sets limits. The statements below are quoted from our Legal Disclosures, which give the full terms.

Regulatory status

Caldrion LLC is not registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission as an investment adviser under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, and is not registered as a broker-dealer, commodity pool operator or commodity trading advisor. It relies on the family office exclusion under the Investment Advisers Act.

06FAQ

Questions and answers.

Whose money does Caldrion invest?

Only its own. Caldrion invests its own capital, from its own balance sheet, and has no outside investors or clients.

Who makes the investment decisions?

Decisions are made by a small internal investment committee that meets weekly. We need no outside approvals and no fundraising to close.

How long does Caldrion hold an investment?

Our capital is permanent and free from fixed fund lives, so no fund timetable forces us to sell. How long we hold depends on the asset class: in private equity, for example, we can hold a great business for decades.

Can I invest in Caldrion or in a Caldrion fund?

No. Caldrion has no outside investors, does not offer securities and does not manage outside capital. Family offices and institutions can invest directly alongside Caldrion, never into a Caldrion vehicle.

How does co-investment work?

Co-investment partners invest directly alongside Caldrion in an opportunity; they never invest into a Caldrion vehicle. The New York team covers North America and the Atlantic, leading direct deal sourcing and co-investment relationships. To start a conversation, send a partnership inquiry through our contact form.

When will I hear back about an opportunity?

We aim to give initial feedback within 72 hours of receiving a complete package.

Will you keep my materials confidential?

As our Legal Disclosures state, “Caldrion has no obligation to treat materials as confidential unless and until a non-disclosure agreement has been signed by an authorized signatory of Caldrion.” Share a link to non-confidential materials (teaser, deck or data room) first; we sign NDAs promptly when there is mutual interest.
